A flexible approach to studying
Learners approach study in different ways, and there is no single method that works for everyone. The CPA Program encourages a flexible, self directed approach that allows you to combine the study guide and Guided Learning resources in a way that suits you.
The steps below offer one way to structure your study, which you can adapt based on your experience, preferences and schedule.
-
Learn
Begin by working through the material in each study guide module.
Your digital study guide is available in My Learning from enrolment, allowing you to start studying as early as you choose. Your printed study guide will be sent when the Semester begins, you can use it alongside the digital version to read, annotate and revisit key topics. Focus on understanding the core concepts and learning objectives for each module before moving on. -
Practice
As you progress, use the Guided Learning resources to test and apply our understanding. Interactive module quizzes allow you to check your knowledge and identify areas that may need further review. These activities help reinforce learning and build familiarity with exam-style thinking. Practising regularly can help you track progress and build confidence over time.
-
Review and refine
Take time to consolidate what you've learned. Guided Learning summary videos can help reinforce complex concepts and clarify key points. If you have questions or need further explanation, you can use Ask-the-Expert to seek guidance from CPA Australia subject matter experts during business hours. You may choose to revisit parts of the study guide or Guided Learning resources before moving on to the next module.
-
Prepare for your assessment
Close to the end of the semester, focus on bringing everything together. You can attempt the full-length practice exam in Guided Learning to familiarise yourself with the structure, functionality and level of difficulty of the final exam. This is an opportunity to assess your readiness and identify any final areas for revision. Use this stage to refine your exam strategy and approach the final assessment with confidence.
