President’s message – Annual General Meeting (AGM)
On behalf of the Board, thank you to everyone who joined CPA Australia’s AGM on Wednesday 20 May. It was wonderful to see more than 400 people participate, whether in person at our Melbourne office, via live webcast, or from our viewing hubs in Brisbane, Darwin, Perth, Singapore and Sydney. The strong turnout reflected the strength, diversity and connectedness of our membership community.
Your engagement helped make the AGM both insightful and meaningful. The thoughtful questions and discussion around our financial results, organisational performance and future direction demonstrated the genuine interest members have in CPA Australia and its continued success.
I was pleased to be joined by our CEO, Chris Freeland, Deputy Presidents Warren McRae and Louise Cox, and CFO George Kapitelli, while our other directors participated online and from viewing hubs across the network. There was a real sense of positivity and shared purpose throughout the event, and I particularly valued the opportunity to speak with many members afterwards and hear their perspectives firsthand. A recording of the meeting, along with responses to questions not addressed on the day, is available on our website.
Introducing My Learning – a new guided learning platform for the CPA Program
CPA Australia is introducing a new learning platform, My Learning, from Semester 2 2026. Associate members will access all CPA Program resources through the new modernised platform, which brings digital study guides and Guided Learning materials together in one place. Guided Learning will now be developed and delivered in-house by CPA Australia, offering a more streamlined experience that is easier to navigate and more closely aligned with both the study guide and final exam. These changes apply to all learners enrolled in a CPA Program subject from Semester 2 2026. Enrolments open on Tuesday 9 June, with access to learning resources available immediately upon enrolment. For any questions or assistance, please view our support and learning FAQs or contact our Member Services team.
Semester 1 exam results
The CPA Program remains at the heart of our education offering, and we commend the many dedicated ASA members who sat their Semester 1 exams in April. With more than 19,900 CPA Program exams completed, candidates have demonstrated a significant commitment to their professional growth and future careers. As results are released on Friday 5 June, we extend our very best wishes to all candidates.
Australian Federal Budget coverage
CPA Australia’s policy team delivered extensive coverage of the Australian Federal Budget 2026-27, announced on 12 May, offering pre- and post-Budget commentary, in-depth insights and analysis of the key measures. This included post-budget webinars and podcast, media releases and media commentary, video summaries across our social channels, and articles published in Tax News, INTHEBLACK and CPA Update. You can explore the full suite of content on our dedicated Federal Budget webpage.
Resources for identifying and combatting financial abuse
CPA Australia remains committed to acting in the public interest and supporting members in addressing issues of growing importance, including financial abuse. Financial abuse can take many forms and often has profound and long-lasting consequences for individuals, families and communities. To help members better recognise and respond to these situations, CPA Australia has partnered with Each, a provider of health and social support services across Australia, to develop a practical framework and suite of resources. These resources help members identify the signs of financial abuse, understand the different forms it can take, and take appropriate steps to help prevent harm. They include guidance on the roles and responsibilities of accountants, real-world case studies, practical strategies for recognising and responding to financial abuse, and contact details for referral and support services across Australia and New Zealand. We encourage members to access these important resources, which are available on our website here.
CPA Congress 2026 – Lead the Outcome
The dates and locations for CPA Congress 2026 have been announced. Under the theme ‘Lead the Outcome’, this year’s CPA Congress offers members a unique opportunity to connect, learn and be inspired alongside colleagues from around the world.
The global virtual experience will be delivered live and interactively on 23 October, followed by seven weeks of OnDemand access, allowing participants to engage at a time that suits them. We are also delighted to be hosting three international in-person events in Melbourne (20–22 October), Hong Kong (29 October) and Kuala Lumpur (5 November). Early bird registrations for Melbourne are now open, with registrations for the virtual experience, Hong Kong and Kuala Lumpur opening soon. We look forward to welcoming members and guests as we come together to share ideas, build connections and help shape the future of our profession.
Other exciting conferences coming up include CPA Week in Perth on 11 and 12 June, the Government Finance Business Partner Conference in Canberra from 29-31 July and CPA Australia’s Tax Forum in Sydney on 20 August.
