Peer consultation
Content Summary
Starting out from a strong foundation
A peer consultation is one of the benefits and core components of the new CPA Australia Best Practice Program.
It’s designed for members who’ve received their Public Practice Certificate in the last 12 months and is best suited to members who have recently established a business.
The peer consultation will support you in the early part of your practice journey, giving you confidence that your business is set up for success. It’s optional and complimentary for members.
Key benefits include:
- a personalised support plan aligned to your business goals
- valuable insights from an experienced public practice member matched to your business
- guidance on best practice based on your individual business needs, strengths and opportunities
- reduce business risk and clarity of compliance requirements in the early stages
- earn CPD hours.
"It's a pretty positive change… if we can help them manage their business better, that will help them provide better advice to their clients.”
How does peer consultation work?
The peer consultation consists of a two-hour virtual meeting with an experienced public practice member who will share valuable insights and offer guidance.
Before your peer consultation you’ll be asked to complete a self-assessment. This self-assessment focuses on the four areas that will enable you to build a sustainable practice for the future (culture, strategy, communication, and technology) and their six drivers (people and learning, service offering, marketing, compliance, governance and practice management).
Your peer assessor will discuss the results of your self-assessment and work with you to develop a tailored support plan, including recommended tools and resources to meet your business needs and set your business up for success.
How to apply for a peer consultation
Members can express interest in the peer consultation by notifying us in your Public Practice Certificate application, or emailing us at [email protected]
Once your eligibility has been approved you will be matched with a peer assessor based on your needs and their skills and experience.
Ongoing support
Your support plan will not only provide you with relevant resources for your business, it will flag opportunities to connect with peers such as other local Public Practice Certificate holders and networking opportunities for ongoing support.
