Students Jozo Frankovic from the University of Wollongong in Australia and Miko Yan from the University of Nottingham, Ningbo China enjoyed a once in a lifetime work experience opportunity at the Australian Open (AO).
The students put their studies into practice working with the AO Finance Team to assess player prize money and learn about the vital role accountants play behind the scenes at one of the world’s largest sporting events. The week-long placement also included time with the Operations and Partnerships Teams, allowing the students to understand how finance works within the wider business.
Jozo and Miko’s week in Melbourne also included activities to help them leverage their experience when applying for job opportunities in the future. They had mentoring sessions with CPA Australia executives and met with a personal stylist to help them choose a professional outfit to wear to interviews.
Commenting on the placement, Jozo said “I am so excited to be here and have learnt so much…thank you, CPA Australia. This opportunity is once in a lifetime!”
The work experience program is one of the many benefits of CPA Australia’s partnership with the Australian Open. Watch this space for opportunities to get involved with the 2019 tournament.
