Centres of Excellence

Have you heard about CPA Australia’s Centres of Excellence? If you haven’t, that’s okay. Our Centres of Excellence (or CoEs) may not be the first thing you think of when you think of CPA Australia. But they’re a vital part of member’s contributions to CPA Australia’s strategic work.

CoEs are advisory groups that provide input and guidance on our policy, advocacy and thought-leadership activities. They focus on important issues like external reporting and audit, environmental, social and government issues, retirement, savings, and taxation. They also cover ethics, professional standards, and digital and business transformation.

CoEs sound great, right? And they are. We couldn’t do without them. They’re only missing one thing: you. CoEs are mostly made up of our members. Its member expertise, knowledge and skills that help our policy team develop policy positions, respond to consultation and exposure drafts, and identify the merging trends and issues we consider for research and thought-leadership.

So, why should you become a member of CPA Australia’s Centres of Excellence?

Professional exposure
As one of our valued, influential CoE members you will contribute to policy and thought-leadership, and actively represent these activities. Your contribution will be reflected on both the CPA Australia website and in the CPA Australia annual report.

Elevated professional standing
Being a CoE member is an acknowledgement of your technical expertise, and seniority in the accounting profession, and the wider community.

Networking opportunities
Each CoE is made up of 10 people, mostly CPA Australia members. Each one experienced in their own field. As a CeO member, you will be able to engage with them, exchange views, gain knowledge, and share ideas and information more mutual benefit.

Professional development
Because formal CoE meetings feature a range of presentations and events, you will have the opportunity to hear and learn from other leading industry experts for your ongoing professional development and continuous improvement.

The latest news and information
CoE members are kept abreast of CPA Australia’s policy and advocacy activities. So you can be sure of always knowing all the latest areas of interest and topics of concern.

So, who can become a CoE member? We’re looking for leaders in their fields of expertise. People with specialist knowledge and skill, who are prepared to share their views, and contribute at virtual meetings and calls, and to provide guidance on requests from policy staff. The time commitment is between 50 to 70 hours a year, and includes at least one face-to-face meeting.
