Member Pathway Agreement

CPA Australia has a Member Pathway Agreement (MPA) with ROCCPA.  

Pathway to CPA membership

The following steps demonstrate the pathway to CPA membership for full members of the ROCCPA under the conditions of the current MPA.

Step 1: Determine your eligibility

You may be eligible to apply for Associate CPA Australia membership if one of the following applies to you.

Pathway 1

Professionals with eight or more years of work experience who:

• have successfully completed a relevant degree recognised by CPA Australia as at least equivalent to Australian bachelor degree level
• have eight years relevant work experience with a minimum of five cumulative years in a senior role at the time of application
• This role must be at managerial level, demonstrating senior decision making within an organisation. Please outline this experience on your CV and submit it with your application. We will use our discretion to determine if your work experience is at an appropriate level to be considered under Pathway 1
• have successfully completed the exams set and assessed by the Ministry of Examination, R.O.C. (CPA Licensure Exams)
• did not gain entry through another mutual recognition agreement or any other similar pathway agreements

or

• have successfully completed the CPA Licensure Exams and:
  • is an individual member of one of the group members of ROCCPA
  • is of good standing and not currently subject to any disciplinary sanctions or investigations
  • meets any additional admission requirements, including but not limited to, evidence of good character and payment of fees, as imposed by CPA Australia on application for membership, or under law.

Pathway 2

Professionals with five or more years of work experience who:

• have successfully completed a relevant degree recognised by CPA Australia as at least equivalent to Australian bachelor degree level
• have five or more years of relevant work experience at the time of application as evidenced in your curriculum vitae, and
• have successfully completed the exams set and assessed by the Ministry of Examination, R.O.C. (CPA Licensure Exams)
• did not gain entry through another mutual recognition agreement or any other similar pathway agreements

or

• have successfully completed the CPA Licensure Exams, and
  • is an individual member of one of the group members of ROCCPA
  • of good standing and not currently subject to any disciplinary sanctions or investigations
  • meets any additional admission requirements, including but not limited to, evidence of good character and payment of fees, as imposed by CPA Australia on application for membership, or under law.

Pathway 3

Professionals with less than five years of relevant work experience who:

• have successfully completed a relevant degree recognised by CPA Australia as at least equivalent to Australian bachelor degree level
• have less than five years of relevant work experience at the time of application as evidenced in your curriculum vitae, and
• have successfully completed the exams set and assessed by the Ministry of Examination, R.O.C. (CPA Licensure Exams)
• did not gain entry through another mutual recognition agreement or any other similar pathway agreements

or

• have successfully completed the CPA Licensure Exams, and
  • is an individual member of one of the group members of ROCCPA
  • is of good standing and not currently subject to any disciplinary sanctions or investigations
  • meets any additional admission requirements, including but not limited to, evidence of good character and payment of fees, as imposed by CPA Australia on application for membership, or under law.

Step 2: Apply

Complete our online application and submit with the required documentation, including your application and membership fee.

In your application, nominate the National Federation of Certified Public Accountant Associations of the Republic of China (ROCCPA) as the professional body with whom you hold membership.

Step 3: Verification and outcome of your application

Your application will take approximately 10 to 15 working days to verify. We will send you an email advising you of your assessment outcome.

Step 4: Advance to CPA status

Once you become an Associate member of CPA Australia, you must successfully complete the following subjects of the CPA Program according to your verified entry pathway.

Pathway 1

Professionals with eight or more years of work experience

• Ethics and Governance
• Financial Reporting
• Global Strategy and Leadership

Pathway 2

Professionals with five or more years of relevant work experience

• Ethics and Governance
• Financial Reporting
• Strategic Management Accounting
• Global Strategy and Leadership

Pathway 3

Professionals with less than five years of relevant work experience

• Ethics and Governance
• Financial Reporting
• Strategic Management Accounting
• Global Strategy and Leadership
• One elective subject in the CPA Program
• Plus fulfil CPA Australia's Your Experience requirement

 

When complete, you will advance to CPA status, receive a CPA certificate and will then be able to use the letters CPA after your name.
