Celebrating 60 years in Malaysia
CPA Australia marked its 60th year in Malaysia with an award presentation to longstanding members and individuals who have contributed to the organisation and the accounting profession.
The longstanding award was presented to two 50-year members; Lee Yuk Siew and Peter Selvarajah. This award recognises a member’s commitment and continued contribution to CPA Australia as well as the profession. CPA Australia owes its strong reputation as a leader in finance, accounting and business to the support of its members.
CPA Australia also presented the Divisional President’s Award for Excellence to 10 individuals; Alex Ooi, Andrew Heng, Christina Foo, Ho Foong Moi, Johan Mahmood Merican, Josephine Phan, Lam Kee Soon, Margaret Chin, Dato’ Mohammad Azlan and Dato’ Dr Nellie Tan-Wong. These members were recognised for initiating and pursuing milestone initiatives, having had made a notable contribution to their area of endeavour, and bringing indirect credit to CPA Australia or the CPA designation.
Themed ‘celebrating the past, influencing the future’, the anniversary celebration was about building on CPA Australia’s achievements, celebrating the contributions of important stakeholders including councillors, committee members, and volunteers, both past and present. From a handful of members in Malaysia in 1956 of the then Australian Society of Accountants, the CPA Australia brand has grown to become a leading professional accounting designation in Malaysia and globally.
