The following steps demonstrate the pathway for full members of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) to gain membership with CPA Australia under the conditions of the current member pathway agreement (MPA).

Step 1: Determine eligibility

PATHWAY 1 – Associate Admission with less than 10 years of work experience

As a full member of ICPAK, you may be eligible for Associate membership of CPA Australia if you:

• are a full member in good standing with ICPAK and not under any investigation for professional conduct infringements

• did not gain entry to ICPAK through another MPA or any other mutual recognition agreement (MRA) that ICPAK may have with another professional body

• have successfully completed the:
- ICPAK Qualification examinations and
- practical work experience requirements

• hold a university degree recognised by the Australian Government Department of Education and Training as being at least equivalent to Australian bachelor degree level. This will be determined during the verification of your application


PATHWAY 2 – CPA Admission with 10 years of work experience or more

As a full member of ICPAK, you may be eligible for CPA status of membership of CPA Australia if you:

• are a full member in good standing with ICPAK and not under any investigation for professional conduct infringements

• did not gain entry to ICPAK through another MPA or any other mutual recognition agreement (MRA) that ICPAK may have with another professional body

• have successfully completed the:
- ICPAK Qualification examinations and
- practical work experience requirements

• hold a university degree recognised by the Australian Government Department of Education and Training as being at least equivalent to Australian bachelor degree level. This will be determined during the verification of your application

• have at least ten years of relevant post-qualification work experience (at the time of application), with at least five years in a senior management role

This pathway will cease on 1 September 2020, when pathway 1 will apply to all full members of ICPAK including those candidates described in pathway 2.

step 2: Complete application

Complete the online application and submit with the required documentation, including your application and membership fee. Ensure you nominate ICPAK as the professional body with whom you hold membership.

STEP 3: VERIFICATION OF APPLICATION

Your application and information supplied will take approximately 10 to 15 working days to verify. Upon completion, an email will be sent to you informing you of your assessment outcome.

Step 4: Advance to CPA Status

Once you become an Associate member of CPA Australia via this MPA, you must undertake and successfully complete the following subject of the CPA Program:

• Ethics and Governance

Upon successful completion of this subject, you will be advanced to CPA status. You will receive a CPA certificate and will then be eligible to use the CPA designation.

Full members of ICPAK who meet the eligibility criteria for pathway 2, may gain direct entry to full CPA membership with CPA Australia under the conditions of the current membership pathway agreement, which are valid until 31 August 2020.

This pathway will cease on 1 September 2020 when ICPAK members who apply after this date will become Associate members and be required to complete the relevant CPA Program subjects under the conditions of pathway 1.
