The following steps show how qualified members of the Chartered Accountants Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka) can become an Associate member of CPA Australia under the current mutual recognition agreement.

Step 1: Determine Eligibility

You may be eligible to apply for Associate membership with CPA Australia if you:

• hold a degree comparable to at least an Australian bachelor degree level or have at least five years’ work experience in professional accounting

• have passed the CA Sri Lanka examinations and CA Sri Lanka practical experience requirement

• have not gained your CA Sri Lanka membership through another mutual recognition agreement

• are a current member in good standing with CA Sri Lanka

Step 2: Complete Application

Complete the online application and submit with the required documentation, including your application and membership fee. Ensure you nominate Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka) as the professional body with whom you hold membership.

step 3: Verification of application

Your application and information supplied will take approximately 10 to 15 working days to verify. Upon completion, we will send you an email advising you of your assessment outcome.

Step 4: Advance to CPA status

To attain the CPA designation, eligible CA Sri Lanka members will need to successfully complete Ethics and Governance within two years from the date of admission as an Associate member. Your enrolment and payment must be received no less than six months prior to your deadline for attaining the CPA designation.

Upon completion of this subject you will advance to CPA status. You will receive a CPA certificate and will then be able to use the CPA designation.
