Mat Croad

Mat Croad FCPA (Aust.) – President

Group Financial Controller, Beca

Sector: Engineering

Mat has extensive Asia-Pacific commercial, leadership and strategic experience. He is currently the Group Financial Controller at Beca, a CPA Australia Recognised Employer Partner. He supports CPA Australia’s efforts to develop and mentor aspiring professionals and is focused on connecting with members from across the accounting profession.

Tracy Hickman

Tracy Hickman FCPA (Aust.) – Deputy President

Director, Staples Rodway

Sector: Accounting

Tracy has held senior finance roles for more than 25 years in Europe and New Zealand. As a Director at Staples Rodway, she advises business owners on corporate finance, governance and strategy, together with financial modelling and treasury management. Tracy is a member of the Institute of Directors and holds a Masters in Management.

Matthew Needham

Matthew Needham FCPA (Aust.) – Vice President

Chief Financial Officer, Housing New Zealand

Sector: Government

Matthew is the CFO at the Housing New Zealand. Prior to that he was CFO of the Department of Internal Affairs, and before then held a number of senior finance positions in the U.K. in organisations such as DHL, BT Openreach, Experian and Rolls-Royce. In addition he has also consulted to several British universities on improving value for money. Matthew is a keynote speaker, specialist in cost reduction and transforming the finance function.

Lyndon Bain

Lyndon Bain CPA (Aust.) – Councillor

Head of Financial Governance and Risk, Bank of New Zealand

Sector: Banking

Lyndon manages a risk and assurance team at the Bank of New Zealand and has some 18 years of commercial experience in financial and risk management roles in both New Zealand and the UK. Lyndon is qualified in law and accounting and has an MBA. He chairs the CPA Corporate Committee and is focused on ensuring the New Zealand branch of CPA Australia continues to support the needs of Associate Members and new CPAs.

Gillian Craig

Gillian Craig CPA (Aust.) – Councillor

Lecturer, AUT University

Sector: Education

Gillian is a lecturer in Accounting at AUT University, mainly focused on first year students and mentoring students in work experience placements. Prior to her move to the academic and teaching world she worked as an auditor for KPMG in Auckland and London, and was a Financial Accountant for the Commonwealth Games in Auckland.

John Gill

John Gill FCPA (Aust.) – Councillor

Retired CFO, Formerly Datacom New Zealand

Sectors: Public sector, corporate, not-for-profit

John worked in the New Zealand public sector for 30 years, including senior roles in the Ministry of Education, Department of Maori Affairs, Ministry of Energy and Ministry of Transport. He has significant experience in accounting for schools, and in management accounting and in the management of payroll, business process outsourcing and IT. John’s interests are in encouraging and mentoring accounting students into CPA Australia membership and Maori education. 

Brad Golchin

Brad Golchin FCPA (Aust.), MTax – Councillor

Director, Wise Advice Limited (New Zealand) XO Accounting Pty Ltd (Australia)

Sector: Accounting

Brad has been at the forefront of the accounting industry in Auckland with his commitment to the introduction of technology to run his practices. With 15 years’ experience in accounting practice as Director of Wise Advice Ltd and more recently XO Accounting Pty Ltd, Brad also brings expertise as a facilitator of a wide range of industry seminars and workshops. He is committed to mentoring and development for small-to-medium-enterprise business owners.

Emily Hewat

Emily Hewat CPA (Aust.) – Councillor

Manager, KordaMentha

Sector: Restructuring

Emily has gained extensive experience across multiple sectors including education, manufacturing, property and finance. Emily is currently a Manager at KordaMentha and holds a Bachelor of Business Studies (Finance and Accounting) from Massey University.

Liz Plowman

Liz Plowman CPA (Aust.) – Councillor

Financial Controller, Industrial & International, Beca

Sector: Engineering

Liz has fifteen years’ experience in commercial activities, including business partnering, financial operations and project management. She has worked across the Asia-Pacific region while holding different finance leadership roles. With qualifications in engineering and commerce, she is passionate about the career development of people.

Paul Shallard

Paul Shallard CPA (Aust.) – Councillor

Partner, Deloitte New Zealand

Sector: Accounting

Paul has more than 15 years of experience with Deloitte New Zealand and internationally on a wide range of projects. He leads the strategic cost transformation offering and works across a wide range of clients and industries providing advice around operating model, outsourcing and procurement. Paul is committed to serving the business community and looks forward to doing that through Council.

Lucy Hamnett

Lucy Hamnett CPA (Aust.) – Councillor

Senior Advisor, KPMG New Zealand

Sector: Accounting

Lucy started her career in internal auditing but quickly pursued her passion for sustainability. She now works for KPMG in its Sustainable Value team, where she’s been for four years since graduating university. As a recently qualified CPA, she supports and advises businesses through the rapidly-changing business landscapes such as climate change and focusing long term value creation. Lucy’s interests are in change management and the effective communication of sustainability and long-term issues.
