Mat has extensive Asia-Pacific commercial, leadership and strategic experience. He is currently the Group Financial Controller at Beca, a CPA Australia Recognised Employer Partner. He supports CPA Australia’s efforts to develop and mentor aspiring professionals and is focused on connecting with members from across the accounting profession.

Tracy Hickman

Tracy Hickman FCPA (Aust.) – Deputy President

Director, Staples Rodway

Sector: Accounting

Tracy has held senior finance roles for more than 25 years in Europe and New Zealand. As a Director at Staples Rodway, she advises business owners on corporate finance, governance and strategy, together with financial modelling and treasury management. In addition to being a CPA member, Tracy is a member of the Institute of Directors and holds a Masters in Management.

Matthew Needham

Matthew Needham FCPA (Aust.) – Vice President

Chief Financial Officer, Housing New Zealand

Sector: Government

Matthew is the CFO at the Housing New Zealand. Prior to that he was CFO of the Department of Internal Affairs, and before then held a number of senior finance positions in the U.K. in organisations such as DHL, BT Openreach, Experian and Rolls-Royce. In addition he has also consulted to several British universities on improving value for money. Matthew is a keynote speaker, specialist in cost reduction and transforming the finance function.

Lyndon Bain

Lyndon Bain CPA (Aust.) – Councillor

Lyndon has some 16 years of commercial experience in financial and risk management roles in both New Zealand and the UK. Qualified in law, commerce, and with an MBA, Lyndon is passionate about team leadership, performance management, delivering for customers, and celebrating and having fun with his team and colleagues. As a CPA Council member, Lyndon to provide diversity of thought and provide stronger representation for newer CPA members, particularly those in a corporate environment. Lyndon also want to continue to promote the advantages of CPA Australia to graduates.

Stephen Bell

Stephen Bell FCPA (Aust.) – Councillor

Partner, KPMG New Zealand

Sector: Public practice

Stephen has more than 27 years’ experience, across multiple jurisdictions and disciplines, beginning at KPMG in New York. Upon arriving in New Zealand, Stephen established a forensic and dispute advisory practice for KPMG. He has experience and expertise in forensic accounting, dispute resolution, expert testimony, and financial and fraud investigations. Stephen holds a public practice certificate with CPA Australia.

Gillian Craig

Gillian Craig CPA (Aust.) – Councillor

Lecturer, AUT University

Sector: Education

Gillian is a lecturer in Accounting at AUT University, mainly focused on first year students and mentoring students in work experience placements. Prior to her move to the academic and teaching world she worked as an auditor for KPMG in Auckland and London, and was a Financial Accountant for the Commonwealth Games in Auckland.

Andrew Dickenson

Andrew Dickeson FCPA (Aust.) – Councillor

Sector: Accounting

Andrew is a Director of Taxation at Staples Rodway Limited and is based in Auckland. He is a specialist tax advisor with 20 years' experience. Andrew chairs the tax committee of the New Zealand branch of CPA Australia. He has gained bachelor degrees in law and commerce. In addition to being a CPA, Andrew is a qualified lawyer.

John Gill

John Gill FCPA (Aust.) – Councillor

Retired CFO, Formerly Datacom New Zealand

Sectors: Public sector, corporate, not-for-profit

John is the former CFO of Datacom New Zealand, and former CEO of Datacom Employer Services. Prior to that John worked in the New Zealand public sector for 30 years, including senior roles in the Ministry of Education, Department of Maori Affairs, Ministry of Energy and Ministry of Transport. John has significant experience in accounting for schools, and in management accounting and in the management of payroll, business process outsourcing and IT. John’s interests are in encouraging and mentoring accounting students into CPA membership and Maori education. John is a Fellow of CPA Australia.

Brad Golchin

Brad has been at the forefront of the accounting industry in Auckland with his commitment to the introduction of technology to run his practices. With 15 years’ experience in accounting practice as Director of Wise Advice Ltd and more recently XO Accounting Pty Ltd, Brad also brings expertise as a facilitator of a wide range of industry seminars and workshops. He is committed to mentoring and development for small-to-medium-enterprise business owners.

Emily Hewat

Emily has gained extensive experience across multiple sectors including education, manufacturing, property and finance. Emily is currently a Manager at KordaMentha and holds a Bachelor of Business Studies (Finance and Accounting) from Massey University.

Scott Soullar

Scott Scoullar FCPA (Aust.) – Councillor

Chief Financial Officer, Summerset Group Holdings Limited

Sector: Aged care

Scott is CFO for Summerset which is a NZX and ASX listed company with more than $2 billion in assets, in the fastest growing industry in New Zealand. Scott has a mix of public and private sector experience and was CFO for Housing NZ. He was also the CFO for Inland Revenue responsible for over $45 billion in annual crown revenue, and has 12 years' extensive banking industry experience. Scott holds a Bachelor of Commerce and Administration.
