AI in accounting and finance: CPA Congress 2025 tackles the big questions

As artificial intelligence (AI) reshapes various industries, its true impact on finance and accounting is yet to be determined, with the possibilities, risks, challenges and opportunities still being debated and discovered.
CPA Congress 2025 brings together global experts and thought leaders to explore how AI is already transforming – and could further transform – ways of working, as well as how business professionals can seize the opportunities it brings.
This year’s in-person Congress in Australia is held at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre from October 14-16, with a virtual conference being held live online on October 17. There is also an in-person Congress in Kuala Lumpur on November 6 for CPA Australia members in South-East Asia.
CPA Australia’s Chief Executive Officer, Chris Freeland AM, said accountants are at the forefront of AI implementation within their organisations, and are on the front-line of debate and scrutiny over when and how it is utilised.
“The theme of this year’s Congress – Prepare for Impact – couldn’t be more timely,” he said. “The accounting profession stands at the foot of a mountain of expectations and opportunities, with a willingness to help lead the way. This year’s Congress has an impressive array of leading global AI and technology experts to help participants chart their own course.
“Expect real-world insights, candid discussion, and practical learnings that make sense. For us at CPA Australia, it’s about cutting through the noise and exploring what really matters to our members.”
