On 4 February 2026 the One Person Tribunal found Mr Aaron Dunn breached CPA Australia’s 11 May 2022 Constitution (“the Constitution”) in that he had:
Complaint 1
“committed, participated in or been involved with an Adverse Event” as defined in Article 76(e) of the Constitution as having “failed to observe a proper standard of professional care, skill or competence” by failing to act on a client’s instructions to wind up a self-managed super fund.
Particulars
The Member had been requested by a client to wind up a SMSF in May 2022 and at the time of the Complaint, they had not done so.
Complaint 2
“committed, participated in or been involved with an Adverse Event” as defined in Article 76(e) of the Constitution as having “failed to observe a proper standard of professional care, skill or competence” by failing to respond to a client in a timely manner.
Particulars
From June 2025 to October 2025, the client emailed the Member on five occasions for confirmation that the SMSF had been wound up, and the Member did not respond to any of the client’s emails.
Decision
The Member admitted the Complaints prior to the convening of the One Person Tribunal and consented to the Determination and imposition of the penalty below.
The One Person Tribunal found the Complaints sustained and imposed the following penalties:

The One Person Tribunal considered the submissions and mitigating factors put forward by the Member and CPA Australia and imposed the following penalty:
Complaints 1 and 2
- A severe reprimand.
- The Member to successfully complete at their own cost a Practice Review, within 12 months of the OPT determination date, or within an alternative timeframe set at the discretion of the General Manager Professional Conduct (GMPC). Failure to complete the Practice Review within the specified period will result in the automatic forfeiture of Membership.
- The Member to successfully complete at their own cost the CPA Australia online course “Navigating Risk: Strategies for Corporate Governance and Compliance (133021057)” or its equivalent and provide the GMPC with evidence of completion of the course by 30 June 2026. Failure to comply with this direction will result in the automatic forfeiture of Membership.
Costs
The Member was ordered to pay CPA Australia’s costs of $3,529.20.
