On 16 October 2025 the Disciplinary Tribunal found Ms Katrina Olsson breached CPA Australia’s 11 May 2022 Constitution (“the Constitution”) Article 36(a) in that she had "committed, participated in or been involved with an Adverse Event as defined in:
- Article 76(c) of the Constitution in that she “breached this Constitution (or a constitution of the Company in force from time to time before the Amending Date), By-Laws, Code of Professional Conduct or the Applicable Regulations;” by breaching APES 110 subsection 113 the principle of professional competence and due care, and/or APES 110 subsection 115, the principle of professional behaviour, in failing to complete a client’s tax returns for the 2023 and 2024 financial years.
- Article 76(c) of the Constitution as having “breached this Constitution (or a constitution of the company in force from time to time before the Amending Date), By-Laws, Code of Professional Conduct or the Applicable Regulations” by failing to provide a satisfactory explanation in writing with respect to the matters referred to in the Complaint as required by By-Law 5.2(a)(iii) of the 9 December 2024 By-Laws.
Ms Olsson did not attend the Disciplinary Tribunal and a denial of the complaints was entered on her behalf.
Penalty and Costs:
The Disciplinary Tribunal found the Complaints sustained and imposed the following penalties:
Complaint 1:
- A severe reprimand
- Lowering of membership status from FCPA to CPA.
- Member to successfully complete the CPA Australia online course of education “My Firm. My Future. Understanding and Responding Your Client’s Needs” by 31 March 2026, or such time as allowed by the General Manager Professional Conduct. Failure to successfully complete the course of education, to result in immediate forfeiture of membership
Complaint 2:
- A severe reprimand.
- A Fine of $2,000.00.
Ms Olsson was ordered to pay a contribution to CPA Australia’s costs of $11 245.95.
