Have you ever tried to draw a perfectly horizontal or vertical line using Excel's drawing tools? It can be done, but it is fiddly and frustrating. Next time try holding the Shift key down while you're dragging the line and see how easy it is.

The Shift key also allows you to draw perfect circles and squares with the drawing tools. Just hold the Shift key while using the mouse to re-size the shape.
