Excel tip: double click shortcuts

Excel has a number of shortcuts that work with a double click. Here's a few:

  • Double click the AutoSum toolbar icon to automatically insert a SUM formula (it uses the guessed range). If you select a range first it only takes a single click to insert the SUM function.
  • Double click a tab name to rename the sheet.
  • Double click the lines between rows and columns to resize the rows / columns to fit the contents.
  • Double clicking within the formula bar can select references and function names to enable you to change the formula.
