IT specialisation
blue horizontal line

We live in a dynamic environment where e-business is not just an add-on measure, but has become an integral part of business practice. More and more business owners and executives need impartial guidance in making strategic technology-related decisions.

CPAs now have a unique opportunity to expand their career path and position themselves as high-level users and advisers in the management of technology and information.

The IT specialist designation is designed for members who plan to specialise in IT, while also providing a point of reference for members who want to know more about IT.

Rather than being a qualification, the designation is available to members of CPA Australia who have demonstrated their significant expertise in the IT field. CPA and FCPAs can be considered eligible for the specialisation if they meet the education, experience and documentary evidence requirements. Many IT knowledge areas are suitable for recognition towards the designation, including systems analysis and design, database design, project management and security.

When applying for the designation, please note that applications cannot be processed until all supporting documentation is attached in the necessary format (this includes certified copies of originals, where appropriate).

A letter of support must be included with your application form. The letter should be from either a CPA / FCPA or your current employer, and must be specifically in support of your application for the designation (e.g. not just a letter of confirmation of your employment).
