CPA Program segments for CPD purposes

CPA Program segments are one form of complying with Continuing Professional Development requirements. Members may claim a maximum of 120 hours structured CPD for each CPA Program segment if the segment is passed or a maximum of 20 hours structured CPD if the segment examination is not attempted or not passed. CPD for a particular CPA Program segment can only be claimed in the triennium in which the examination is conducted. Study for a particular segment can only be claimed once every five years unless the content has substantially changed. Detailed records must be maintained in order to demonstrate that the CPD claim reflects actual hours of study.

CPA Practical Experience Mentor Program

To advance to CPA status, all new enrollees in the CPA Program are required to successfully complete both the CPA Program and a minimum of three years in the Practical Experience Mentor Program. The Mentor Program divides the accounting profession into nine areas of work. The mentees (Associate members) choose which areas best relate to their current work and are then required to complete and document what is referred to as 'workplace evidence'. This shows the attainment of particular workplace skills in the chosen areas of work. The mentor’s role is to act as a sounding board, to share knowledge and experience and to guide the mentee in collecting the most appropriate and relevant workplace evidence.

Workshops

Workshops are available to help enrollees with selected CPA Program segment topics. Contact the CPD team on 1300 85 77 05 or check our website for details
