Information, Technology and Management CoE

The ability to manage, store, retrieve and use information is vital to organisation of all sizes. Factors that assist organisation to address this area include use of information technology, e-business and communication technology.

The focus of the Information, Technology and Management Centre of Excellence (CoE) is to ensure that members have access to vital and current information whether through internal sources or alliances. It covers more than data and systems, however these support management in the context of information.

Objectives of the CoE

The CoE will assist CPA Australia to achieve its strategic objectives through:

  • thought leadership
  • advocacy and representation
  • supporting key areas
  • providing or identifying appropriate relationships

Areas of interest

The focus of this CoE is in improving all aspects of the use and management of technologies designed to:

  • assist in the creation, storage and use of information in electronic form
  • ensure the integrity, security, reliability and confidence in data
  • manipulate, manage and enhance information
  • structure, control, access and manage knowledge
  • facilitate electronic communications, including all forms of electronic business
  • access and use existing and emerging systems, services, equipment and technologies that utilise digital data

Background and experience

Members, preferably senior professionals with a broad business background, are likely to be drawn from the following disciplines or cohorts:

  • middle and senior management from all business sectors: both small and larger businesses, in both the public and private sectors
  • managers with specific responsibility for IT and related technologies
  • academics specialising in information management and allied disciplines
  • business consulting, particularly involving IT, knowledge management and electronic business
  • CIOs and other broad-based information services managers
  • systems analysis and design experts with a strong business focus
  • managers of major information technology development projects

Representation

In appointing members to represent the CoE we look for a cross-section of members from:

  • micro business
  • small business
  • corporate
  • public sector
  • public practice
  • business advisers and consultants
  • academics
  • not-for-profit organisations
