Business Management CoE

Committee members in this area will help identify key issues that support members in managing resources within their control while ensuring better utilisation of assets within their organisation. The focus is on all aspect of management in a modern global environment.

This area of focus would not just address internal firm issues but also the impact of regulatory and economic factors on business. Areas to be addressed will be financial management, environment management, risk management, change management, strategic management, sustainability, human resources/industrial relations, insolvency and reconstruction, compliance issues, management accounting and knowledge management.

Objectives of the CoE

The CoE will assist CPA Australia to achieve its strategic objectives through:

  • thought leadership
  • advocacy and representation
  • supporting key areas
  • providing or identifying appropriate relationships

Areas of interest

The focus of the Business and Management CoE is on all aspects of management in a modern global environment, including:

  • the impact of regulatory and economic factors on business
  • sustainability including environment and social management
  • financial management issues
  • risk management
  • human resources/industrial relations
  • insolvency and business turnaround
  • competition and trade practice issues
  • management accounting and knowledge management; and
  • internationalisation of business strategy and management

Background and experience

Examples of fields from which members are drawn include:

  • senior management of large corporations or change management, risk management professionals
  • public sector representative involved in financial management
  • owner and managers of small and medium sized enterprises
  • consultants on business strategic, marketing, management, human resources or other key functions
  • academics specialising in business management issues
  • entrepreneurs and associated support networks
  • exporters and facilitators
  • industry consultants with experience in competition issues: and
  • insolvency and business turnaround professionals

Representation

In appointing members to represent the Centre of Excellence we look for a cross-section of members from:

  • micro business
  • small business
  • corporate
  • public sector
  • public practice
  • business advisers and consultants
  • academics
  • not-for-profit organisations
