CPA Australia's Directors Register is a database of eligible FCPAs who wish to be considered for director roles in businesses and organisations (government and not-for-profit). It is used to match eligible FCPAs with organisations looking for directors.
The aim of the register is to:
- promote the competence and integrity implicit within the CPA designation
- promote the leadership capabilities of CPA Australia's members in the areas of finance, accounting and business
- assist business in accessing appropriately skilled CPAs for business leadership roles
The register was developed following independent research commissioned by CPA Australia in 2002 which examined the key issues impacting on the confidence of the public and investors in financial reporting. Respondents were asked whether their confidence in a company increased if individuals in key roles held professional qualifications such as the CPA designation.
The results showed that:
- 66 per cent of public respondents wanted at least one professional accountant such as a CPA on the board
- 62 per cent wanted the CEO to be a professional accountant such as a CPA
- 74 per cent wanted a professional accountant such as a CPA to chair the audit committee
The CPA Directors Register is available for use by all types of businesses and organisations, regardless of size, searching for appropriately experienced individuals of all backgrounds and skills.
