Guidance note for advising on reverse mortgages

CPA Australia and SEQUAL (Senior Australians Equity Release Association of Lenders) have jointly developed a guidance note to help members better understand the products, assess the risks and evaluate the benefits when advising clients about reverse mortgages.
 
The guidelines focus on three main areas:

• the different types of equity release products
• the key factors members should take into account when recommending the use of a reverse mortgage
• the current regulations that surround reverse mortgages
