Who do the schemes cover?

Who is affected?

Professional standards legislation schemes apply to:

  • individual members who hold a CPA Australia Public Practice Certificate or Limited Practice Certificate
    • including services provided by an authorised representative or representative of an Australian Financial Services Licence (AFSL) holder

Other classes of members may be added at some time in the future.

Who is excluded?

Professional standards legislation schemes do not apply to:

  • services provided by members who directly hold an Australian Financial Services Licence (AFSL)
  • multi-disciplinary companies
    • the CPA Australia Board will be consulted as to whether the schemes should be expanded to include multi-disciplinary practices
  • members offering part-time or pro-bono services are excluded as they would be required to meet increased compliances which are too onerous and costly for this category of members
    • these members are those who earn less than $7500 gross fees p.a. and who are not required to hold a public practice certificate
