It's been an exciting past month for me, as I visited Israel. While I was there I was interviewed by the Institute of Certified Public Accountants in Israel about the accounting profession in Australia.
Although I was away for several weeks, I was able to attend a few events in Australia throughout the month. Most recently, I attended the University of New South Wales Ball and Brown Tribute Dinner, which was sponsored by CPA Australia.
I was also at the 50-, 60-, 70-year membership presentation ceremony where I had the opportunity to meet interesting people who have worked in accounting for so long. It was inspiring to see that many of them are still very active professionally.
As part of our strategic planning session for the division, the New South Wales Divisional Council has established five working groups in the areas of government relations, corporate social responsibility rewards for members / member benefits, improving member recruitment, engagement and retention. If you have anything youd like to contribute to these areas send your feedback to nsw@cpaaustralia.com.au
I would like to acknowledge and thank retiring members Ian French FCPA, chair of the Corporate Committee, and Schon Condon FCPA and Richard McArtney FCPA, both members of the Public Practice Committee, for their many years of service and involvement in CPA Australia.
Congratulations also goes to Simon Chhoeu who was elected to fill a casual vacancy on the New South Wales Divisional Council.
