Major issues that the business community and the accounting profession face due to globalisation and, environmental and ethical crises will be addressed at the Kate Stanton Annual Research Lectures in Tasmania.
Guest speaker Professor Michael Gaffikin will canvas some of these issues and make suggestions as to the direction for appropriate resolution of these issues.
Major issues that will be addressed in the presentation:
- problems and issues facing the discipline of accounting are serious
- the profession needs to work together to provide appropriate responses
- professional bodies need to take a proactive role and utilise the immense intellectual capital at its disposal
Professor Gaffikin works at the University of Wollongong where he was previously associate dean (research) after having served as head of accounting and finance for 13 years.
The lecture will be held in Sandy Bay on Monday 25 August and in Launceston on Tuesday 26 August 2008.
