The Australasian Reporting Awards (ARA) held their 58th Annual Awards Presentation Dinner on 5 June at the Hilton Sydney, to recognise outstanding business reporting.

The awards encourages effective communication of financial and business information.

The ARA is a not-for-profit organisation which has been established for almost 60 years and is run by volunteer professionals from across the business community.

CPA Australia has been the principal sponsor for several years, taking a direct role in assisting business to better understand and deliver effective corporate reports that meet the needs of both users and businesses.

This year, CPA Australia sponsored the 'Report of year' award which was awarded to OneSteel Limited and the 'Electronic (online) reporting' award won by Meat & Livestock Australia.

Ivor David FCPA, president of the New South Wales division, says that these awards demonstrate CPA Australia's investment into the ongoing improvement of annual reporting across Australasia.

'These awards are an excellent opportunity for businesses to benchmark their report against the high standards set by ARA and against other businesses,' he said.

Several members are among those who volunteer their time to organise the awards. They include CPA Australia's president Alex Malley FCPA, who serves as chairman, and Malcolm Duce FCPA and John Horder FCPA who volunteer on the ARA board of directors.

Further information is available on the ARA website.
