CPA Australia is conducting a survey of all members to find out how many perform voluntary and pro-bono work, and how best to be of assistance to them.
There are around 700,000 associations in Australia, all requiring accounting, administrative and compliance input which could be and in many cases are performed by a CPA. To date no attempt has been made to measure or report on their contributions.
As part of exercising our corporate social responsibility, and fulfilling our responsibility as a membership body to equip members with the knowledge and tools to carry out their work, CPA Australia now seeks to determine:
members' awareness of the challenges of voluntary work
their awareness of the risks and consequences of those risks
members understanding of the regulatory requirements associated with performing voluntary work
We also seek to determine members' level of technical knowledge or qualifications in undertaking these roles, and the level of professional indemnity (PI) insurance held by members or the organisation they are helping.
The results of the survey will be used to identify areas in which CPA Australia might be of assistance to members performing this valuable work in the community.
The survey should take about five minutes to complete.
