Working for a Recognised Employer Partner

If you work for a Recognised Employer Partner you can fulfil your practical experience requirement more simply. CPA Australia recognises that many employers support the professional development of their staff by identifying, providing, monitoring and re-assessing staff development needs.

If you enrol in the practical experience requirement with a Recognised Employer Partner you do not need to record the demonstration of your skill sets. Instead, this information is recorded using your employer's own internal learning and development and mentoring systems.

In order to assess your eligibility to participate in the Recognised Employer Program, please check if your employer is listed as a  Recognised Employer Partner

To enrol you will need to download, complete and submit the Practical experience requirement – enrolment form for working for a recognised employer (PDF) to CPA Australia.

If you are working part-time you will need to calculate your progress on the practical experience requirement proportionately.

How do I complete the practical experience requirement?

If you have been employed with a Recognised Employer Partner for 36-months your employer will need to complete the employer contact testimonial to confirm the length of your employment.

You will need to download and submit the Practical experience requirement – update form (PDF) to CPA Australia. Because your employer is a recognised Employer Partner you do not need your mentor to verify the demonstration of your skills.

If your form is correctly completed and you have met the requirements you will receive an email notification that confirms you have completed the practical experience requirement. If you have also completed the professional level segments you will be automatically advanced.

Will CPA Australia recognise my practical experience for the duration of my employment?

The benefit of working for a Recognised Employer Partner is that CPA Australia will allow you to claim the entire duration of your employment with that employer.

Your employer will confirm your employment start date in the Practical experience requirement – enrolment form for working for a recognised employer (PDF).

CPA Australia will consider your employment start date as the start date of your practical experience requirement and you will receive the appropriate reduction on your remaining time

If your employer is a Recognised Employer Partner by commitment the start date for your practical experience requirement cannot be recognised beyond the date that your employer joined the Recognised Employer Program.

If you were employed with the Recognised Employer Partner by commitment before they joined the Recognised Employer Program you will need to apply for recognition of professional experience.

What happens if I change employers?

If you change employers you are required to submit a Practical experience requirement – update form (PDF) within 30 days of ending your employment with the Recognised Employer Partner.

If you change employers and your new employer is not a Recognised Employer Partner you will need to demonstrate competence in the skill areas to complete the practical experience requirement.

To demonstrate competence you can enrol with a mentor or apply for recognition of professional experience.
