Foundation level rules and regulations

Candidates enrolling in foundation level exams agree to the following rules and regulations for 2012:

Program rules

  1. All candidates enrolled in foundation level exams, have 10 years from their first enrolment to complete their foundation level exam requirements.
  2. All candidates will have a maximum of four (4) exam attempts at any one exam and are required to wait 30 days between attempts.
  3. Candidates can enrol for a maximum of eight (8) exams at a time.

Enrolment

  1. A completed enrolment form, payment and agreement to rules and regulations, non-disclosure policy and privacy statement must be received by CPA Australia Ltd. Enrolments can be made online via Manage your CPA Program or downloading the enrolment form (PDF).
  2. An enrolment is valid to the end of the exam period. Refer to Foundation level Foundation level important information – fees and dates.

Scheduling your foundation level exam(s) appointment

  1. Candidates should be aware of the available test centre locations prior to enrolment. Candidates are required to schedule their own exam appointment with Pearson VUE, either online or by phone. Refer to:
  2. If a candidate does not schedule their exam(s) appointment(s) with Pearson VUE, or if there is inconsistency with the information provided by the candidate at enrolment and at the time of admission at the test centre, candidates:

      i. will not be permitted to sit the foundation level exam
      ii. will forfeit the entire enrolment payment
      iii. will be required to re-enrol for the exam
      iv. will receive a 'Did Not Sit' on their record

Cancellation of enrolment

  1. Candidates can cancel an enrolment at any time up to 5 business days before their scheduled exam appointment. For refund pricing, refer to: Foundation level important information – fees and dates.
  2. Candidates who do not cancel their enrolment for a foundation level exam 5 business days before to their exam appointment or do not attend a foundation level exam will receive a 'Did Not Sit' on their record.
  3. Candidates are not permitted to sit a foundation level exam(s) and subsequently apply for foundation level exam(s) cancellation.

Change of enrolment

  1. Candidates can change their exam enrolment up to 5 business days before their scheduled exam appointment and will be required to pay an additional fee. For additional fees, refer to: Foundation level important information – fees and dates.

Deferrals

  1. No deferrals will be offered to candidates enrolled in foundation level exams.

Correct personal information

  1. Candidates are responsible for providing CPA Australia with the correct spelling of their name, date of birth and ensuring this information exactly matches the two forms of current, and legible identification required for scheduling and admission in to the exam centres.
  2. If there is inconsistency with the information provided by the candidate at enrolment:

i. despatch materials may be sent to an incorrect address and candidates may be charged a re-issue fee
ii. candidates may miss out on critical information relating to their enrolment in the CPA Program foundation level.

Withdrawal from the CPA Program

  1. Candidates can withdraw from the CPA Program at any time by completing a withdrawal of CPA Program foundation level form. Once a candidate's withdrawal is complete, CPA Australia will retain the candidate's academic details recorded from the member entry pathways assessment and results for exams taken.

Completing foundation level exams

  1. A pass for each exam is based on a determination of the minimum level of knowledge and skills that candidates must acquire in order to be successful in the professional level of the CPA Program.

CPA Australia reserves the right to amend or change these listed rules and regulations at any time.

Non Disclosure policy

Candidates must comply with the following non-disclosure policy as non-compliance will result in candidates:

  1. not being permitted to sit the foundation level exam
  2. forfeiting the entire enrolment payment
  3. receive a 'Did No Sit' result
  4. being required to enrol for the exam again

CPA Australia either owns or has a right of use by way of licence to the intellectual property, copyright and trademarks used in providing the foundation level exams. The foundation level exams are made available to candidates only for the purpose of the foundation level assessment.

Candidates are prohibited from divulging, publishing, transcribing, reproducing, or transmitting the foundation level exams, its contents and/or its exam questions in any form or by any medium to any individual or entity. The foundation level exam questions and answers are not released or available for viewing due to the secure nature of the exams and the process adopted by CPA Australia in establishing passing standards.

Failure to comply with CPA Australia's non-disclosure of exam policy can lead to the invalidation of exam results and further penalties. For further information read foundation level exams.

Privacy statement

CPA Australia Ltd (CPA Australia) is committed to protecting the privacy and security of your personal information.

The personal information you provide may be used by CPA Australia to:

  • process your application for membership with CPA Australia
  • process your application for General Skills Migration with CPA Australia
  • record your details and profile information
  • manage your participation in the CPA Program
  • conduct market research in order to identify and analyse the ongoing needs of CPA Australia candidates and members
  • provide you with access to and information about a range of current and future benefits
  • enrol you in the CPA Program
  • administer the CPA Program
  • administer your enrolment(s)
  • administer your exam(s)
  • customise future service offerings, such as exams for the CPA Program
  • compile an employer-requested list for your employer of those persons in their employment undertaking the CPA

Program or their member status

  • your personal information may be disclosed to "your Employer for the purposes specified in this Privacy Statement" notify you about CPA Australia events and professional development and associated events
  • aggregate and use for internal review to analyse trends and statistics.
  • Failure to complete the relevant application correctly may delay or render CPA Australia unable to process your application.

CPA Australia may disclose the personal information you provide to:

  • CPA Program providers
  • external service providers to whom we have contracted out functions such as printers, mailing houses, IT companies and marketing and communications agencies
  • Universities and other education providers, professional and Regulatory bodies, Governmental Departments e.g. the Department of Immigration and Citizenship, Australian Education International—National Office for Overseas Skills Recognition and Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations.

The personal information you provide will be treated by CPA Australia in the following ways:

  • your personal information may be transferred or stored outside the country where the personal information was collected for the purposes stated above
  • you have the right to access or correct any personal information which CPA Australia holds about you(subject to any applicable legal exceptions) and can do this via the "Update my profile" service on our website at cpaaustralia.com.au.   • your personal information may be disclosed to your Employer for the purposes specified in this Privacy Statement
