Henry tax review

Australia's future tax system

The much awaited Henry tax report and government's response were released on Sunday 2 May. CPA Australia has produced a media release, 'Henry review: government must go further, quicker' on the outcomes of the report. The government's initial response and full report can be found on the Treasury website.

The review was established by the Australian Government in 2008 ‘to examine Australia's tax and transfer system, including state taxes, and make recommendations to position Australia to deal with the demographic, social, economic and environmental challenges of the 21st century.’

The review will have far reaching implications for strategic business decision makers in the future.

As a leading advocate for tax reform on behalf of members, the profession and in the public interest for many years, CPA Australia has been an active participant in the review.

CPA Australia’s focus will be centred on measures that ensure Australia retains a robust, competitive economy and a tax system that emphasises competitiveness, efficiency and productivity.
