Financial and Commercial Literacy Programs for Indigenous Communities

On Tuesday 19 July, more than 50 individuals from a range of backgrounds, including business, government, indigenous commerce, small business and not-for-profit organisations, came together at a workshop jointly convened by CPA Australia, the Australian Securities and Investments Commission and the Northern Territory Government.

The workshop was dedicated to finding meaningful answers in the quest for best practice in engagement, delivery and measurement of financial and commercial literacy programs.

The Financial and Commercial Literacy Programs for Indigenous Communities: Workshop Report (PDF) summarises key themes emerging from the formal presentations, the results of a pre-workshop survey and the subsequent discussion.

This is a timely and innovative initiative with important implications for the Australian Government’s National Financial Literacy Strategy and the Northern Territory Government’s "A Working Future" policy.
