To become a Fellow (FCPA) of CPA Australia, you must be a CPA with the following professional experience:
- a minimum of 15 years' full-time work experience in accounting and finance and business, or any of these fields
- a minimum of five years' experience in a responsible executive position (working at a strategic level and having major input to strategic decisions, or both) or five years' experience gained in full-time practice as a public accountant either alone or in partnership
In your application, you must provide the following documentary evidence:
- a detailed curriculum vitae that outlines company name, period of employment, job title and duties for each role performed
- an organisational chart that illustrates your position within the company's management structure
- character references or workplace testimonials that reflect the nature of the relationship with the applicant, position title, duration of role and a brief summary of duties performed:
- members not in public practice must provide evidence in the form of certified copies of character references and/or work testimonials from a current and/or former employer
- members in public practice must provide evidence in the form of certified copies of character references and/or work testimonials from the principal/partner and/or clients of the firm
In addition, you should provide any information that may assist in determining the size and standing of your company or organisation and your position in the organisational structure. This information can include:
- details of accounting staff responsible to the member
- person or body to whom the member is directly responsible
- published company annual reports or such other relevant company documents that include information on annual turnover and number of employees
CPA Australia welcomes additional testimonials from fellow CPA Australia members. FCPAs should continue their professional development and must commit to at least 120 structured continuing professional development (CPD) hours per triennium, with a minimum of 20 hours each year.
