Alex Malley FCPA
Alex Malley believes that the true measure of a real leader is that they possess the courage to fail in order to meet a vision. This could be considered a somewhat unorthodox ethos for the CEO of Australia’s peak finance and accounting body – however, Alex’s fruitful career exemplifies that the notion has worked for him.
In every way, Alex is a visionary and free spirit when it comes to leadership and life. As CEO of CPA Australia, Alex is responsible for 18 offices globally and more than 139,000 members in 114 countries. With such a geographically-diverse business, Alex believes that a multi-platform approach to communication is the linchpin of maintaining quality member service. He is heavily involved in CPA Australia’s publishing division, which produces a number of print publications, including INTHEBLACK (Australia’s highest-circulating business magazine), and he is also focused on the organisation’s digital offerings.
Alex hosts his own national television show, evoTV’s The Bottom Line, on Australia’s Channel 7 Digital (also available online), The program sees Alex interview recognised leaders about their lives, business philosophies, personal insights and career highs and lows. He is also a weekly business commentator on 2GB and MTR radio stations' The Money News program.
Alex concurrently serves on a number of boards and government sector committees, including the Audit and Risk Committee of the Office of Police Integrity, Victoria.
Prior to his appointment as CEO of CPA Australia, Alex was CEO of the Urological Society of Australia and New Zealand, the region’s peak professional body for urological surgeons, while serving as President and Chairman of the Board for CPA Australia.
Alex’s earlier career was as a university professor where he achieved critical acclaim, winning the Vice-Chancellor's Award for Teaching Excellence. He was also a finalist in the National Teaching Awards. Working with the next generation of Australian leaders is something Alex continues to take very seriously, reflected in his ongoing work with universities in Australia and around the world.
