Date issued: 20 February 2009

CPA Australia presented scholarships to top performing local graduates from Swinburne University in Vietnam this week.

CPA Australia has supported Swinburne University's Master of International Accounting program since it began operations in Vietnam 10 years ago and has welcomed the opportunity to present two full scholarships and four partial scholarships to students at its Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City campuses.

CPA Australia's director of international development, Lucia Real-Martin, says CPA Australia is committed to the development of the highest accounting standards throughout the world and was pleased to have the opportunity to support the growth of the profession in Vietnam.

'We are fully committed to supporting the development of Vietnam's accounting expertise and pleased to support the Masters of International Accounting program which trains the best and brightest local accounting students for leadership roles in business,' Ms Real-Martin said.

'Employers will be looking to recruit graduates with these attributes.'

Ms Real-Martin said CPA Australia was an international body constantly seeking opportunities to strengthen its organisation through knowledge sharing and collaboration in international accounting circles.

'CPA Australia represent more than 122,000 finance, accounting and business professionals in 100 countries, predominantly in Australia, Asia and Europe. We welcome opportunities to strengthen our relationship with key universities and employers globally.

'We thank Swinburne University in Vietnam and the National Economics University for the opportunity,' she said.
