The Australian Volunteers International (AVI) program is a professional volunteer program that enhances your skills whilst on assignment in various global locations.
By participating in the program you can help increase accounting resources and strengthen accountability and institute reporting standards for local organisations.
A range of volunteer roles are available in the finance, economics and governance sector for a number of locations around the world. AVI also has assignments in economics, governance and budget transparency for CPAs looking to exercise these skills.
Volunteers receive a local salary that is set to ensure a comparable living standard with Australia.
For CPAs with public sector experience, AVI also administers paid roles with government partners as part of theĀ Pacific Technical Assistance Mechanism (PACTAM).
AVI looks for individuals with the following attributes and competencies:
- integrity
- the ability to manage stress
- self reliance and self confidence
- self awareness
- resilience
- cross cultural sensitivity
- working with and developing others
- flexibility and ability to adapt
- problem solving
- achievement oriented
The personal effectiveness and leadership areas of theĀ Career Guidance System are a good starting place to asses your skills in these areas and find resources to support the delivery of your technical skills.
